This week’s newsletter describes how BLS signatures could be used to improve DLCs without consensus changes to Bitcoin and includes our regular sections with announcements of new software releases and release candidates, plus summaries of notable changes to popular Bitcoin infrastructure software. Bitcoin does not support BLS signatures and a soft fork would be required to add them, but Fournier links to a paper he co-authored that describes how information can be securely extracted from a BLS signature and used with Bitcoin-compatible signature adaptors without any changes to Bitcoin. Please report any problems you discover so that they can be fixed before the final release. This week’s newsletter includes our regular sections summarizing popular questions and answers from Bitcoin Stack Exchange, announcing new software releases and release candidates, and describing recent changes to Bitcoin infrastructure software. This prevents payments from failing just because the sender hasn’t heard about a recent policy update. 1001 recommends that nodes who advertise a change to their payment forwarding policies continue accepting payments received using the old policies for about 10 minutes. ● Using Bitcoin-compatible BLS signatures for DLCs: Discreet Log Contracts (DLCs) allow a trusted third party known as an oracle to attest to a piece of data. When it came time to settle the contract, each of the parties could run the program themselves and, if they all agreed on the outcome, settle the contract cooperatively without involving the oracle at all. Individuals who trust that oracle can use that attestation in contracts without revealing to the oracle that a contract exists or what its terms are, among other benefits of DLCs. The database can create secure profiles for the buyers and merchant, property agents, or the property which could conceivably make title organizations and representatives bankrupt. This week, Lloyd Fournier posted to the DLC-Dev mailing list about the benefits of having an oracle make their attestation using Boneh-Lynn-Shacham (BLS) signatures. This has never been denied that one method is not complete and traders are required to use many and at sometimes all methods may not be good enough to make trading decisions. Over the last couple of years the cryptocurrency trading has caught the popular attention for various reasons, one of them is that with them the traders are able to reap attractive returns.
There are thousands of traders who base their trading decisions on Bitcoin technical analysis; therefore, even if it is not true, at least these traders are making the use of charts and calculators to enter or exit from their positions. Though there is no guarantee that other government entities can’t demix these as well. Even if they don’t see general adoption, their privacy advantage means they could end up well deployed among niche users. Murch and glozow explain the different mempool transaction indexes (txid, wtxid, time in mempool, ancestor feerate, and descendant feerate) in Bitcoin Core as well as their usages. 25351 ensures that after an import of addresses, keys, or descriptors to a wallet, the subsequent rescan will not only scan the blockchain but also evaluate whether transactions in the mempool are relevant to the wallet. ● What is the purpose of indexing the mempool by these five c
r
● Where are BIPs 40 and 41? Codes. Two stacks are used – main and alt. NOP codes as invalid. NOP codes in Bitcoin 0.3.6 a hard or soft fork? NOP codes were previously mined, there was no actual fork. While there are established angel investor clubs, they differ from venture capital firms as they represent private investors rather than businesses. ● Is there code in libsecp256k1 that should be moved to the Bitcoin Core codebase? Tim Beiko, a core developer on the Ethereum project, has announced that the Readiness Checklist for the Ethereum Merge is now complete. Ethereum is the best known cryptocurrency and a platform that consists of decartelized blockchain technology. What is the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum? ● What is the difference between blocksonly and block-relay-only in Bitcoin Core? Similar to other efforts to modularize areas of the Bitcoin Core codebase like libbitcoinkernel or process separation, Pieter Wuille notes a clear area of responsibility of the libsecp256k1 project: everything that involves operations on private or check public keys. Pieter Wuille defines 4 taproot keypath spend options, outlines why BIP341 recommends the “noscript” option, and notes scenarios where other options migh
preferred. -
